One thing that strikes the most for me over the years is that #reflection is vital to teams’ well-being and performance.
I see that as a “deeply felt but neglected need” among team members—the reasons vary. That’s why we provide a vast container for management teams to reflect and communicate on both business and relationships in our group #mentoring sessions.
As team members learn more from each other – given that the conversations are heartfelt and honest – somewhere along the way, a shift happens.
The attention shifts from “My complaints” to “What is my part in this?” and “What can we learn?”. Empathy grows when this new understanding emerges, ultimately shaping teams’ readiness to join forces and collaborate. Not a magic trick, though; it needs time, attention, and patience – like everything else in life.
